It was another great night at Eckington Civic Raceway for Round 3 of the Clubman 2 series. With full heats for Clubman-E and Tamiya Mini, it was going to be an action pack meeting. I big thank you to everyone who made it and helped with the track.

For the Clubman qualifying it was Ryan Keeton and Adam Moss setting the early pace while Steve Baggley and Dave Hanson struggled with the handicap tyres. As the track grip increased, the times tightened up with 5 driver very close on pace at the top. It was Baggley who managed a very clean run to take pole.

In the lower finals, Damien Levers had a shakey start in D final but finished strong for the win. The C final was a lot closer, Calvin Hadley took advantage of the early lap battles. He was then shadowed by Richard Varley for the rest of the race, Hadley kept his cool for a solid victory. For once the B final was the quietest final with a lights to flag victory for Richard Wheeler, Chris Sale looked to have the faster car but just couldn’t quite get close enough to a very clean Wheeler.

The A final was as epic. Baggley got a perfect start leaving the rest of the grid fighting for second. 3 minutes into the race he looking good for the win, however a small mistake forced him to retire. Phil Roberts had a bad start, Hanson was still wrestling the handicap tyres leaving Keeton and Moss in a big battle. By the last stages of the race they had battled so hard it was anyone's win. It was Roberts who stole the show with a great recovery race to go from last place to victory. Keeton survived for second with series leader Hanson secured third.

The Tamiya Mini final saw a lights to flag victory for Dave Underwood, although Tom Berry was looking very racey in second. The Mini Stock final was a great watch with Jack Brooks hooking up the pace for the final, leaving father Phil in his dust.

In the Clubman 2 championship there is no change at the top, however it's looking a lot tighter with a few more hopefuls for the title. Baggley, Hanson and Roberts all have wins and will all be rocking the handicap tyres for the next round.

Our next meeting will the bank holiday 8 May. This will be another round of the Clubman with possibly some extra activities included. More details will follow. Booking in is now open for this meeting.
