General Class Rules Club Specific Information & Rules Useful Links
The 4WD Mini Touring Car (MTC) class has been around since 2010, with the Tamiya TA05-M being one of the first popular cars. Designed as a smaller version of full-size 1/10th touring cars, MTCs offer a fun, fast, and more affordable way to enjoy on-road RC racing.
Despite advances in RC technology, the MTC class has remained largely the same. The compact layout makes it difficult to shrink some of the latest touring car designs into an MTC format. However, with the recent increase in MTC racing popularity, more manufacturers are producing dedicated MTC chassis, bringing fresh innovation to the class. One example is the new Schumacher Neon, which features a different geometry layout to push performance further.
With the introduction of a National MTC Series, the class has grown significantly. More clubs are hosting MTC races, and the smaller chassis size means they can be raced at a variety of indoor and outdoor venues. Their compact build and lightweight design also make them more durable and less prone to breakages than full-size 1/10th touring cars.
MTC racing is an affordable entry into competitive RC. Chassis kits range from £100 to £300, making it easier for new racers to get involved. There are also Sport and Pro versions available to suit different budgets and skill levels. With options for shaft or belt drive, racers can find a setup that best matches their driving style. For those looking to try something unique, aftermarket conversion kits allow you to turn well-known 1/10th touring cars into an MTC, using donor parts from older models. This flexibility has helped the class grow, making it an exciting and accessible racing category for RC racers of all levels.
