A big thank you to everyone who made it to our Mince Pie Mayhem race. The festive spirits were high with some amazing decorated body shells collecting bonus points. These included plenty of lights, bows, inflatable reindeers and even a Brussel sprout vinyl wrap!
The racing was excellent all night with a lot of racers stepping up their game for their team. Sometimes they were flying the flag for their class with a lot of very close battles between the Clubman-E and Mini-E cars.
As for the results, the Orange team 5 were in a league of their own. Team captain Tom Berry was running a vintage Mardave V10 which was flying… even with the giant inflatable reindeer on its roof. The other team drivers Luke Wainwright, Craig Johnson and Matt Page were all putting in great performances to take control of the tables. Behind them it was much closer with regular changes in table positions. The purple team stole the runners up spot with some very good wins while the Red and Green team seemed to have a race long battle for third. Red would claim the final step of the podium with a string of second places. The blue team 1 were very unlocky with car failures, there were a lot of races they should have scored good points in.

We'd like to highlight some of the other great festive legends at the race. Ryan Keeton's car which looked like it featured all the house decorations on it, Craig Johnson for the tissue paper cut and glue creation, Tony Matthews with his barbwire fairy lights, Rian Luke and his scary Christmas gnome bonnet mascots, Denny Luke and his bauble grenade, Matt Page's tinsel master piece, Rich Herring with Santa's laundry dryer, Rich wheeler with his Brussel sprout vinyl wrap, Keith Hardiman and his festive sticker bomb artwork and Brian Jones rocking the stylish black tree look. Apologies if we have missed anyone, it was great to see so many of you getting into the spirit of the event and having fun.
If you have any more pictures from the event please share them on our facebook page.
That was our last meeting of the year, we'll be back on January 8th to beta test our new GP meeting format. From then on we are going to try running weekly for even more fun in the civic centre.
From all the SRC team, thank you so much for the amazing atmosphere in the club and the excellent racing you create. It's been a great year, we're really looking forward to 2024 at the Civic!
